1,EA released a new trailer recently for Need for Speed: No Limits, and while that was a sign that the game would be out not long from now, I wasn’t really expecting this: the game is launching worldwide on September 30th, this Thursday. That’s a few weeks ahead of the console game, so you’ll be well in to satisfying your intense desire for speed on your iPhone or iPad by the time the home version comes out.

This game has been in soft launch for so long that it was easy to forget that it did exist, and I’m interested to see how people take to this one. It’s being developed by Firemonkeys, the folks behind Real Racing 3 [Free], which has done quite well for EA Mobile and was an impressive technical specimen when it launched. This should appeal to a slightly different crowd that prefers street racing to the more traditional racing of Real Racing 3, but it should promise to be a gorgeous game.(source:toucharcade.com

2,In an internal employee email that Zynga provided to GamesIndustry.biz today, we’ve learned of several important personnel moves, including the departure of Mark Skaggs after seven years with the social games firm. Skaggs was instrumental in leading the creation of Zynga’s flagship franchises like FarmVille and CityVille. More recently he led development on Empires & Allies, “which has shown players around the world that we can deliver high quality, authentic pvp strategy games,” noted CEO Mark Pincus.

“We are appreciative and thankful for the player focused passion and creativity Mark has infused in Zynga teams and projects over the years. E&A will continue to be led by its gm, Katherine De Leon, now reporting to Pete Hawley.”

In his email to employees, Pincus also revealed that Zynga has hired Hasbro human resources executive Laura Revenko to serve as the company’s new chief people officer – a role that will have her look to strengthen Zynga’s university recruiting and learning and development functions. Additionally, both Lincoln Brown and Joe Kaminkow have been promoted to senior vice president of games, overseeing Zynga’s Social Slots business.

After a tumultous fiscal year filled with net losses, Zynga is looking to bounce back in the current fiscal year. The company recently acquired social casino studio Rising Tide Games and just last month longtime EA executive Frank Gibeau joined Zynga’s board.(source:gamesindustry.biz

3,Everyone noticed when Super Mario Bros. turned 30 last week. Well, today’s gaming birthday is even more important to me.

Mega Man 3, which originally came out for the Nintendo Famicom in Japan on September 28, 1990 (before hitting the U.S. on the Nintendo Entertainment System that November), is 25 years old today. It was a big hit for publisher Capcom, selling over 1 million copies. The critical and commercial success helped to turn Mega Man into a gigantic franchise with tons of sequels and spin-off series, like Mega Man X and Mega Man Legends. And in an age when 2D platformers are suddenly hip again thanks to wonderful modern efforts like Shovel Knight and Ori and the Blind Forest, everyone should take some time to replay this classic (if you haven’t recently already via the Mega Man Legacy Collection), which is one of the greatest games of all time.(source:venturebeat.com

4,Apple announced today that its new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus have combined to sell 13 million units across the globe during the first weekend on sale. The figure breaks the previous sales record of 10 million units for the original iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, but it’s worth noting that this time Apple did launch simultaneously in China whereas last time the phone didn’t go on sale in China until October.

Apple is planning on launching its new phones in 40 additional countries on October 9, including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, and Taiwan.

“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”

In addition to 3D Touch, which could have some interesting gameplay applications as more developers look to incorporate the feature, the new phones boast an A9 processor, which some benchmark tests suggest makes the iPhone as powerful as a low-end Macbook.(source:gamesindustry.biz
